Hiking and Mountaineering

The mountains are the heart of our region. Without them, our landscape would probably be half as attractive.
Numerous trails - ranging from easy mountain roads to climbing tracks - lead to untouched nature and fantastic vantage points.

The rock formations of the Steinerne Meer (the Sea of Stone) between the Königssee and Saalfelden are always impressive.
The foothills of the Alps are ideally suited for extensive hikes along rivers and lakes or across the rolling hills. Especially in springtime and fall, when the temperatures are very agreeable and nature is changing, a fantastic natural spectacle can be witnessed.
